A stage adaptation of the famous book by Mateusz Pakuła, a personal chronicle of the dying process of his father, who battled pancreatic cancer, but also an explo- ration of helplessness and anger at state institutions, the health service and the church, which inflict additional suffering on the sick. “Co-dying”, as described by Mateusz Pakuła is not an individual experience. Across Poland, thousands of people grapple with feelings of helplessness and rage, unable to make decisions about their own fate while their loved ones have their rights restricted. The play becomes a poignant cry for euthanasia in moments when suffering reaches unbearable limits. However, don’t expect a purely sombre tale on stage. Pakuła infuses the narrative with grotesque and comic elements, staying true to his distinctive style.
